Connections to existing trails will create new long-distance hiking opportunities, including the planned Palmertown Range trail, which would link the park to Saratoga Springs. The state Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation plans to create a new trailhead and parking area at the Sherman Island Boat Launch on Spier Falls Road to provide access to the new parcel. The vistas will help add to the park's appeal as an increasingly popular destination for bald eagle watching, when eagles winter along the Hudson River. Due to warm weather the ice fishing children's clinic on Friday has been replaced with a family nature walk along the park road at 10:00am, followed by refreshments in the warming hut. Moreau Lake State Park is open year round and on Thursday at 1:00pm, well behaved dogs on a leash and their owners can take part in the Bark Up a Tree event, a nature hike for dogs and people.
